Peebles is a pleasant town half an hour away with a traders market on a Thursday a selection of shops, good places for lunch and lovely walks along the Tweed to Neidpath Castle.
Traquair House and Kaizlie Gardens are about ten minutes further on along the Tweed and are both lovely places to visit. Kaizlie gardens and the Traquair Arms both have tables outside for eating out on warmer days.
